Budget Assistant Terms of Use

These Terms of Use govern access to and use of Budget Assistant, a personal budgeting application. In these Terms, "Budget Assistant", "we", "us", and "our" mean the operator name used for the service, and "you" means the person who accesses or uses the app, website, APIs, Shortcuts, automations, or related services.

By continuing as a guest, creating an account, signing in, subscribing, importing or configuring an iOS Shortcut or automation, submitting data, clicking an acceptance checkbox, or continuing to use Budget Assistant after these Terms are presented, you agree to these Terms and to the Budget Assistant Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Budget Assistant.

1. What Budget Assistant does

Budget Assistant helps you record income, expenses, transaction categories, budget inputs, savings targets, and related notes so you can view personal budgeting summaries, calendars, dashboards, and reports. Some features use Apple Pay-related iOS Shortcuts or Wallet automations that you configure, Apple or Google sign-in, RevenueCat and app store subscription infrastructure, hosting and database providers, email providers, and monitoring tools.

Budget Assistant does not currently use AI or model providers to process your financial data. New AI-assisted features, materially different paid tiers, or materially different data processing may require updated terms, an updated privacy notice, and fresh consent where required before launch.

Budget Assistant is intended for personal informational use. It is not a bank, financial institution, accounting firm, investment adviser, tax adviser, credit counselor, law firm, or emergency service.

2. Eligibility, guest access, and account responsibility

Budget Assistant is a general-audience personal budgeting service and is not designed specifically for children. If you have not reached the age of majority where you live, a parent or legal guardian must consent to and supervise your use, must review and agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy on your behalf, and is responsible for deciding what information may be entered. If you do not have that consent and supervision, do not use Budget Assistant. If you use Budget Assistant on behalf of another person or organization, you represent that you have authority to do so.

You may continue without providing an email or linking Apple or Google. Budget Assistant assigns that guest a service user ID and stores the guest's budget data under that ID on our backend. Until you link Apple or Google, access and recovery are tied to this app installation's protected credential. If the app is deleted, the device is replaced, or that installation credential becomes unavailable before you link a sign-in method, the guest budget may not be recoverable.

Linking Apple or Google later adds that sign-in method to the same Budget Assistant user ID; it does not intentionally merge a different Budget Assistant profile. If the provider identity is already linked elsewhere, the profiles and budgets remain separate.

You are responsible for keeping your device, guest installation access, account, OAuth login, API keys, Shortcuts, and automations secure. You must promptly revoke or rotate any API key that may have been exposed. You are responsible for all activity that occurs through your account, device, Shortcuts, automations, or API keys.

3. Your data and setup responsibilities

Budget Assistant depends on information you provide, import, select, or configure. You are responsible for:

• entering accurate income, expenses, budget amounts, transaction dates, merchants, categories, notes, and currencies;
• reviewing transactions imported by Shortcuts or automations;
• choosing categories and correcting mistakes;
• confirming that Apple Pay, Shortcuts, automations, OAuth, subscriptions, notifications, and API keys are configured correctly;
• making your own spending, savings, tax, legal, accounting, and financial decisions.

Shortcut and automation capture helps track transactions but may fail, duplicate, delay, omit, or misclassify transactions because of iOS behavior, Apple Wallet behavior, third-party changes, network failures, user configuration, revoked permissions, or other causes outside our control. You should review imported entries and should not rely on Budget Assistant as the sole record of your finances.

4. No professional advice

Budget Assistant does not provide financial, legal, tax, accounting, investment, credit, insurance, or other professional advice. Budget summaries, dashboard statuses, reports, category labels, forecasts, warnings, and savings target comparisons are general informational tools only. You should independently verify information and consult qualified professionals before making decisions.

5. Subscriptions, billing, cancellation, and refunds

Budget Assistant may offer paid plans with monthly, yearly, trial, promotional, or other billing periods. The in-app paywall and app store purchase sheet should identify the plan name, price, billing period, trial conditions if any, included features, renewal behavior, and cancellation path. Plan names, features, prices, free trials, promotions, taxes, and billing periods may change as allowed by law and app store rules.

Purchases may be processed by Apple, Google, RevenueCat, or other payment and entitlement providers. Billing, renewal, cancellation, refund eligibility, chargebacks, taxes, and payment disputes may be governed by the applicable app store, payment provider, RevenueCat, and platform terms.

If you subscribe through the Apple App Store, your subscription may automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period, or as otherwise required by Apple's then-current rules. You can manage or cancel Apple App Store subscriptions through your Apple ID account settings or the App Store subscription management flow. Canceling a subscription may stop future renewals but may not automatically create a refund. Refund requests for App Store purchases are handled under Apple's refund policies.

Budget Assistant and RevenueCat use your Budget Assistant user ID to associate subscription access with the current profile. A user-initiated Restore Purchase checks the Apple Account currently available to the App Store and may transfer subscription access to the active Budget Assistant user ID under the configured provider rules. Restore Purchase restores eligible paid access; it does not restore, copy, or merge a lost guest budget or another profile's data. Changing Budget Assistant profiles does not automatically restore or transfer a purchase.

If a payment fails, subscription expires, entitlement is revoked, chargeback occurs, or provider signal indicates loss of access, we may suspend, downgrade, or disable paid features.

6. Third-party services and terms

Budget Assistant depends on third-party services that we do not control. These may include Apple, Google, RevenueCat, app stores, hosting providers, database providers, email providers, logging, monitoring, device operating systems, and network providers.

By using Budget Assistant, you agree to comply with applicable third-party terms, policies, licenses, and platform rules where those services are involved. We are not responsible for third-party outages, errors, policy changes, fees, data practices, or decisions.

7. API keys, Shortcuts, and acceptable use

API keys are issued by the server and are scoped to plan and feature access. Legacy Shortcut keys are sensitive, revocable, and intended only for the Shortcut or automation flow they support. You must not share, sell, publish, reverse engineer, abuse, bypass, scrape, overload, attack, or misuse Budget Assistant, its APIs, subscriptions, entitlement checks, Shortcuts, automations, or security controls.

We may rate limit, revoke keys, suspend access, delete abusive data, or terminate accounts where we reasonably believe there is misuse, security risk, fraud, payment abuse, unlawful activity, or violation of these Terms.

8. Your license to Budget Assistant

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, revocable, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use Budget Assistant for your own lawful personal budgeting purposes. We and our licensors retain all rights not expressly granted.

9. Your content and permission to process data

You retain ownership of information you submit to Budget Assistant. You grant us permission to collect, use, disclose, store, transmit, process, reproduce, format, analyze, and display that information as needed to provide, secure, operate, maintain, troubleshoot, bill, support, improve, and enforce Budget Assistant, as described in the Privacy Policy and as permitted by law.

To protect guest and registered sessions, the app may use Apple's App Attest service or a restricted fallback installation credential. These checks bind access to a legitimate app installation and help prevent replay or abuse. They are not intended to identify a permanent physical device or track you across unrelated apps.

You represent that you have the rights needed to submit the information you provide and that your use of Budget Assistant will not violate law or the rights of others.

10. Availability, accuracy, and changes

Budget Assistant may be unavailable, delayed, inaccurate, incomplete, or changed without notice. We may add, remove, suspend, or modify features, plans, integrations, limits, APIs, or supported platforms. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, permanent storage, compatibility, data recovery, or error-free operation.

11. Termination and deletion

You may stop using Budget Assistant at any time. You may request deletion or use available account or guest-data deletion features, including in-app deletion where available. Deleting Budget Assistant data or an account does not cancel a subscription billed by Apple; you must manage Apple billing separately in your Apple Account settings. We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe you violated these Terms, created risk, caused harm, failed to pay, or used the service unlawfully. Some records may be retained where required or permitted for security, legal, tax, accounting, dispute, fraud-prevention, backup, or audit purposes.

12. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Budget Assistant is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including warranties of accuracy, reliability, availability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, or that data will be complete or error-free.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so some of the above may not apply to you.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Budget Assistant and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, punitive, or similar damages, lost profits, lost revenue, lost savings, lost data, business interruption, financial losses, investment losses, tax consequences, legal consequences, or damages caused by third-party services, even if we were advised of the possibility.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims relating to Budget Assistant will not exceed the greater of: (a) the amount you paid to Budget Assistant for the service in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim; or (b) 50 Canadian dollars. Nothing in these Terms limits rights, remedies, warranties, or liabilities that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable consumer protection or other laws.

14. Indemnity

To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Budget Assistant and its operator from claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your use of Budget Assistant, your data, your Shortcuts or automations, your violation of these Terms, your violation of law, or your infringement of rights of others.

15. Consumer rights and disputes

Before filing a formal claim, you agree to contact us at support@mail.budget-assistant.com and try to resolve the dispute informally. Where permitted by law, disputes will be handled individually and not as a class, consolidated, or representative action. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot be waived under applicable law.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are material, we may require you to accept a new version before continuing to use Budget Assistant. Continued use after an update means you accept the updated Terms.
